NBBF, Basketball stakeholders’ AGM set for February

As part of its efforts to reposition the country’s basketball, the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) will hold its 2016 Annual Stakeholders Consultative Forum on February 3 at the National Stadium Package B, Abuja.
According to a statement from the NBBF secretariat, delegates which include corporate sponsors, team owners, club chairmen and club secretaries, as well players, coaches, technical officials and the media are expected to arrive Abuja on February 2 for the forum billed to take off at 9.00 a.m. prompt on Wednesday.
All basketball stakeholders present at the assembly will witness milestone presentations, which include one by a top managing consulting group signed to manage and develop the Nigerian Basketball Federation’s digital space, website and social media accounts.
There would also be presentations from the referees and coaches associations inaugurated and reconstituted after the 2015 consultative forum that had over 150 stakeholders in attendance in Abuja, the statement said.
The statement disclosed that the Stakeholders’ Forum would also feature a pre-season seminar for all basketball officials, referees, table officials and technical (match) commissioners.
“Other activities at the event is the 2016 national grading exercise for new officials, and national officials that will be accredited to officiate the 2016 season of the DStv and Zenith Bank Leagues. The grading exercise will hold from the February 4 to 6 in Abuja from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. daily.
The statement made available to The Guardian also reveal that the NBBF board, led by Tijjani Umar, is extending open invitation to team owners, club secretaries, coaches, players and the media to enable them assess the level of development of Nigerian basketball in the last 12 months and to also project a road map for the upcoming calendar year across all the cadres, including the senior and junior national teams, men’s and women’s leagues, youth and developmental programmes.
The NBBF noted that the board remained steadfast in building on the challenges and achievements of 2015, saying that they want to launch Nigerian basketball to greater heights in 2016.
