The immediate past executive chairman of Delta State Sports Commission, who is now the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has described his successor, Tony Okowa, as a right peg in a round hole and an assured that Delta sports will remain in the upward swing.
Commending Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, on the choice, Amaju revealed that Tony Okowa had been part of the success stories of Delta sports.
“We have worked together for years and I can vouch for him. He has contributed immensely to Delta sports and I know he will do very well and even surpass the achievements of my predecessor, Chief Solomon Ogba and myself.
“I expect him to go places because he understands the terrain and has worked with us on many fronts. He is even better than me in temperament because I know I can be difficult to work with but Tony is cool, calm but calculated,” Amaju said.
Amaju also described other members of the board as very competent and experienced and pleaded with them to give Okowa the same support he received as the executive chairman.
On his part, Tony Okowa said he knew that expectations were high, adding, however, that the works of the board as a team would speak for it.
He assured that he would put in everything to keep Delta sports at the top even with more effective innovations
