Samuel Awoyinfa, Abeokuta
Two people were confirmed dead on Thursday while two others were seriously injured in an early morning accident which occurred at the Ota Tollgate in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Our correspondent gathered that the accident involved two trucks, which had a head-on collision, and two of the occupants died.
It was further gathered that the accident was caused by a brake failure by one of the vehicles.
The two vehicles involved were a MACK truck with number plate, KJA 93 XJ and DAF truck with number plate LXD 355 XJ
The accident caused gridlock on the Tollgate axis, extending to both the Lagos-end and Sango-Ota end, in Ogun State.
Ogun State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Adegoke Adetunji, who confirmed the incident,
said the two corpses had been deposited at the State General Hospital’s morgue, Ota, adding that the injured were also receiving treatment in the same hospital.
Adetunji, however, appealed to motorists to install speed limit devices on their vehicles in order avoid road crashes occasioned by over-speeding.
He also advised vehicle owners to ensure adequate and regular maintenance of their vehicles and to always obey all traffic rules and regulations.
