The Secretariat of the Nigeria Women
Football League (NWFL) on Thursday in Abuja said it has fixed Feb. 20 as
the commencement date for its 2015/2016 Premier League.
A press release signed by Emmanuel
Adesanya, the League’s Secretary, indicated that the Women Professional
League would begin a week after the Women Premier League Feb. 27.
“Collection of registration materials is
already on and will end on Jan. 31, with the returning of all
registration materials slated for Feb. 12,’’ the league organising body
said in the press release.
The release quoted Adesanya as saying
the inspection of the various stadia to be used by clubs would hold
between Feb. 13 and Feb. 17.
It said the Premier League was expected to be concluded on Aug. 27, while the Super Four competition would hold on Sept. 24.
Adesanya also announced that 14 clubs
would take part in the Premier League, while 13 clubs were eligible to
participate in the 2015/2016 professional league season.
“All clubs have also been directed to
offset their liabilities for the last season before effecting
registration for the new season,’’ the press release further quoted him
as saying.
